ProductionEdit

DevelopmentEdit

Chris Shaw began with a early work of the film in Fall of 1993 under the title The GreenyWorld Movie. One of the ideas that came out of the brainstorming session was a GreenyWorld film. "When Matt Groening is making the episode of The Simpsons" Robert Stainton has said that the idea for The GreenyWorld Movie was born after he took a cross-country road trip with his wife and five sons in 1998.

AnimationEdit

Animation for the film began in January 1999.

ReleaseEdit

The film was originally planned to be released in 2000, but since it was changed to March 2, 2001, but was pushed to May 18, 2001 to avoid competition with The Greeny Phatom Xperience Movie from Anim8or competitors Geo Animation Studios and finally pushed to September 17, 2001 to avoid competition with Shrek. The film is accompanied by the short computer-animated film Killer Margo.

Home mediaEdit

The DVD was released on July 17, 2002, in separate widescreen and fullscreen editions. A VHS release was also released that day. Both releases included tickets for Greeny Phatom The Movie.

SequelEdit

Fox plans a sequel to this movie released in 2014, but it was cancelled.
